As an early career professional, the process of deciding on — and securing — that first or next-step job is daunting. With so many factors to consider, identifying the best format for your resume, understanding and communicating your value, and the tactical aspects of job search are a lot to handle.
Does your resume stand out from all the other applicants? Does it “speak” to hiring managers and recruiters in decision-making capacity? Do you even know what kind of job you would like or are qualified for? If the answer isn’t a resounding “YES”, we should talk!
As a professional resume writer and career counselor with proven experience developing customized, branded resumes and LinkedIn profiles for clients all over the world, I help clients refine, differentiate, and showcase their brand, then implement strategies that create meaningful connections and job offers.
How My Early Career Resume Writing & Coaching Services Work
My process is simple and straight-forward. I offer a few different service levels and support options, which we can discuss during an introductory call. Following that, we schedule an interview call, during which I ask you lots of questions about your goals, achievements, and expertise. Following that, I get to work!
What Format Should I Use?
There are many components to an effective resume, but I focus on creating meaningful connections between what you have done, what you are interested in, how you approach problems and challenges, and what a potential employer should expect when they hire you.
What Do I Include in My Resume?
One of my most important tasks as your resume writer and job search partner is to get to the bottom of not only what you love, but what you are good at! My goal is to convey the essence of your working style, communication abilities, analytical abilities, project management strengths, or creative approach in clear, concise language.
Don’t Neglect LinkedIn
Without a LinkedIn profile, you are really leaving a lot on the table. Your LinkedIn profile should complement – not copy – your resume. Use the same tone, but in a slightly more personal manner (first person pronouns are acceptable on LinkedIn). You can copy and paste bullets to help readers quickly scan – here are a few of my favorites: ✦ ► ✔︎ ★
Always Be Networking
No matter how great the resume, your job search does not exist in a vacuum. To be effective, you need to be actively engaged in building and leveraging your network, following up with former colleagues, and reaching out to recruiters and other influencers that can make those introductions on your behalf.
